CKB: Raw materials from biotechnology
The joint project CLIB Competence Center Biotechnology (CKB) for a sustainable, resource-saving economy in North Rhine-Westphalia starts (participation of Bielefeld University, Dortmund University of Technology, Heinrich Heine University Düsseldorf and Forschungszentrum Jülich). The joint project CLIB Competence Center Biotechnology (CKB) for a sustainable, resource-saving economy in North Rhine-Westphalia starts (participation of Bielefeld University, Dortmund University of Technology, Heinrich Heine University Düsseldorf and Forschungszentrum Jülich).
Work package 2, headed by Prof. Dr. Stephan Lütz (TU Dortmund University), addresses the megatrend of raw materials using the example of the sustainable production of basic chemicals. Methods and processes for the efficient conversion of new raw material sources into building block chemicals are being developed with the aid of new biocatalysts. This includes strain development for the production of basic chemicals, the development of new enzymatic processes for the exploitation of renewable raw materials and the development of processes for product processing and process integration.
