Dr. Till Steinmetz will start as a postdoc at the chair on June 1.
Dr. Till Steinmetz starts as a postdoc at the chair. We wish him all the best for the start and much success with his research projects.

We are delighted to welcome Dr. Till Steinmetz as a new postdoc to the BPT team. He has been strengthening our team with his expertise since June 2025. Dr. Steinmetz wrote his doctoral thesis at our department at the Chair of Technical Biology. In his dissertation on "Genomics- and Computer-assisted Chemical Exploration of the Secondary Metabolomes of Nocardia and Massilia species", he focused on research into the secondary metabolism of bacteria. He used genome analyses to identify bacteria with promising biochemical properties. He then investigated the metabolites produced by these microorganisms. He has isolated new natural products from bacteria and broken down their structure using mass spectrometry and NMR spectroscopy.
